Nakuru - A Molo court has sentenced to life a man found guilty of defiling three young boys aged seven, eight and eleven at Kibunja area in Molo sub-county.
Appearing before Senior Resident Magistrate Heston Nyaga, Abdul Ekwam pleaded guilty to the charges. It is alleged that he committed the heinous act on February 10, 2013 after enticing the three boys with snacks.
The court further heard that Ekwam tied the boys with a rope before performing the beastly act, and later released them with warning that they should not report the matter.
The boys decided to report the case to their parents who in turn alerted the area chief leading to his arrest.
In mitigation, the accused pleaded for leniency saying he had a young family that depended on him.
Justice Nyaga however dismissed the plea saying the offense was grave as the rights of the children had been abused.
In the same court, a 41-year-old man who was found guilty of raping a 19-year-old lady was sentenced to 10 years in jail.
David Tonui pleaded guilty to the charges, saying that he was under the influence of alcohol when he committed the offense.
The judge said Tonui’s plea for leniency would not be considering that rape and defilement cases were on the increase in the region.
