Kampala - Police in the outskirts of Kampala are holding a man who reportedly took his two children to a traditional healer for sacrifice so that he becomes rich.
The children who survived being sacrificed are Alvine Seruwooza 4 and Raymond Seruwooza 2.
Sam Kiyemba 42, a resident of Kubitika village, some 10 kilometres from Kampala was arrested by police at the traditional healers shrine, 5 kilometres away from his home, where he had taken the children to be sacrificed.
Also arrested was the traditional healer James Kalule. Kiyemba confessed to police that it is Kalule who had advised him to sacrifice his children so that he becomes rich.
Mother to the children Suzan Nabukwesi tipped police about her husbands plans.
" Sometime back my husband hinted at sacrificing the children so that we become rich and so I have been very cautious. When he went with our elder son Alvine and took sometime without coming back, I went and reported to police," Nabukwesi said.
She said that after sometime her husband came back and picked up their second child, not knowing that plain-clothed police officers were around his home.
They followed him with the child to the healer's shrine just as the traditional healer was preparing to sacrifice the children.
While making a statement at Katwe police station, Kiyemba shocked policemen when he said that instead of dying poor, he had decided to sacrifice his children so that he becomes rich just as he had been told by the traditional healer.
