Man lynched for raping thirteen-year-old minor

11 March 2014, 08:17 Dareel Eric

Vihiga - A 38-year-old man was lynched Sunday evening at Kaptech sub-location in Hamisi constituency, Vihiga County, after he allegedly raped and seriously injured a thirteen-year-old minor.

According to the area assistant chief Ayub Shivenga, the girl was injured on the neck by the man who managed to escape after the incident.

“He raped the minor and seriously injured her on the neck with a panga, where she sustained cuts, before running away,” Mr Shivenga said.

It is not yet clear how the man took the girl hostage as she has yet to recover so that she can explain the ordeal.

The chief said that after the girl was found to have been raped, residents launched a man-hunt for the man in all quarters and was found hiding in a nearby bush, where he was frog-marched to the nearest market and lynched without hesitation.

The minor is being treated at Kakamega Hospital and the body of the man was taken to Vihiga Hospital mortuary.

The chief asked the residents to be careful with people with bad motives who prey on the minors unknowing to them and destroy their futures.

“I want to ask the people of this region to be very much on the lookout so that such cases are not witnessed in the region again,” he said.
