Man lynched after hacking Father and Neighbour to death

A 24 year old man was on Monday, April 23, lynched by an irate mob after went berserk and hacked his father and a neighbour to death in Rumuruti area, Laikipia County.

Ephatus Migwi, who was mentally challenged, attacked his 56 year old father and a neighbour as they were preparing to take him to a hospital for medical check up.

Johnstone Waweru was in the company of his neighbour David Thuo were hacked to death as they were trying to convince him to accompany them to hospital.

Laikipia West deputy police commander Patrick Makokha who confirmed the incident said the man first turned on his father while the neighbour was chopped severally on his head and back as he was trying to run for his dear life.

A resident who witnessed the whole scenario raised alarm before a huge mob gathered who immediately lynched him on the spot.

The father was confirmed dead on arrival at the hospital while the neighbour died while undergoing treatment due to profuse bleeding.

The deputy commander urged residents to be cautious  on such people suffering from mental illness and report to the police when they need assistance to take them to mental hospitals saying the fatal incident could have been avoided.

Their bodies were removed to Nyahururu District Hospital Mortuary.
