Lugari - Police are investigating a tragedy where a man killed his pregnant wife before killing himself at Kipkaren trading center on Thursday.
The middle-aged man, identified as Maurice Mutamanu, is alleged to have murdered Renny Ongachi by stabbing her with a knife three times in the stomach for being in an illicit affair.
Boniface Sifuna, brother to the deceased, said they were woken up by his brother's friend who informed them about the incident at around 5.00am Thursday morning.
“The friend informed that my brother had killed his wife before taking poison. When I visited his home, I found him in pain and had to rush him to hospital but on arrival he was pronounced dead,” explained Sifuna.
A close friend to the woman revealed that the two have not lasted a year in their relationship and have been having ups and down.

“The couple had separated in April this year because of misunderstandings, quarrels and fighting which had not been solved before the incident took place. Renny was four months pregnant,” she said.
Police officers who were on patrol arrived at the scene and found her bleeding profusely on the floor and rushed her to Lugari sub-county hospital but she died on the way.
It was said the man was infuriated by unconfirmed reports that his four-month pregnant wife was having an affair with another man.
The bodies were taken to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary in Eldoret and police have launched investigations into the matter.
