Man kills niece after disagreeing with her dad

09 March 2015, 15:28 Jackson Okata

Nakuru - Police in Subukia sub-County of Nakuru are investigating an incident where the body of a two-year-old girl was found in a gunny bag Sunday evening.

According to preliminary reports, it is believed the girl was killed by her uncle Sunday morning at his house and later ferried to the nearby Bahati forest where it was dumped.

Subukia OCPD, Alex Ng’ang’a said that police were alerted about the suspicious bag by villagers who had been looking for the girl after she was reported missing.

The girl's mother, Noami Kiarie said she returned home from work Sunday afternoon only to discover that the girl was not at home.

“The girl’s mother found her daughter missing and reported the case to the police who launched a manhunt immediately. We arrested the uncle who was with the young girl during the day and he later confessed to having killed her and hid the body under a heap of grass,” said Ng’ang’a.

The police boss added that the 24-year-old Samuel Ndegwa said he killed the girl as punishment to the girl’s father (his brother) over a disagreement they had.

Police were forced to save the man from the angry crowd of villagers who were baying for his blood and escorted him to Subukia police post.

The body of the deceased was taken to Subukia hospital mortuary.
