Trans Mara - Christmas celebrations turned gloomy at a village in Trans Mara District after a man killed his 31-year-old neighbour as they were drinking.
According to Koisagat villagers, the suspect was among others who were on a drinking spree at the home of the deceased when an argument erupted between him and another villager.
The deceased attempted to cool down the situation but met his death after the suspect who was already armed with a knife jumped on him and slit his throat.
Upon committing the crime, the accused disappeared in thin air and police in collaboration with the members of public have launched a search for him.
The diseased body was taken to Kilgoris district hospital mortuary.
Confirming the incident, Mogor location Chief David Korir urged villagers to shun over-drinking during this festive season.
“I urge members of public to avoid drinking too much. As you can see now, instead of celebrating, residents here are now mourning the killing of one of them. We must follow the law at all times,” said Korir.
