Nanyuki - A Nanyuki court has sentenced a young man to six-month imprisonment for stealing alcoholic drinks worth more than KES 40 000 from a restaurant in an airstrip.
Joseph Wanjohi allegedly stole 50 assorted bottles of wine valued at KES 43 500 from Batney restaurant in Nanyuki airstrip.
The court heard that Wanjohi committed the offence together with others not before the court on May 22, 2013 after breaking into Karina Joy’s stores where the drinks had been kept.
He was sentenced by Resident Magistrate Evanson Bett.

A prosecution witness told the court that the accused person was arrested while selling the wines at Narumoru town, Nyeri County.
However, Wanjohi had denied the charges claiming that he was given the wines as a gift by some tourists who had visited his bicycle repair workshop.
The court found him guilty of the offence and after passing the ruling gave him 14 days to appeal.
