Man in court for stealing beer from his employer

Nyeri - A bar attendant who allegedly stole liquor and electronic goods from his employer has been arraigned in a Murang’a court.
Eliud Waweru was charged that on February 17, 2015 at ‘Kuku base’, a bar in Murang’a town, he stole KES 1 700, 93 bottles of assorted liquor, two packets of Delmonte juice, a DVD player machine, radio and speaker all worth KES 38 380, property of Michael Mwangi.
Waweru however denied the charges before Senior Resident magistrate Beatrice Kituyi and was released on KES 50 000 bond and a similar surety or KES 30 000 cash bail.

The accused applied for review of the cash bail stating that he could not raise the amount set as he is the only breadwinner of his family.
The magistrate dismissed his application explaining that the cash bail given was sufficient and reasonable taking into account the value of the items he is accused of stealing.
The case was set to continue on April 16, 2015.
