Man in court for burning British developer’s tractor

Kilifi - A 26-year-old man appeared in a Kilifi court Tuesday for burning a tractor.
Malau Chai Baya was charged with others not before the court that on March 7, 2015 at Majajani village in Kilifi south sub-County, he damaged a New Holland tractor registration number KTCB 722G by setting it on fire.
The accused, who appeared before resident magistrate Leah Wazige, denied the charges.
The court was told that the accused was among others who were protesting against the land owned by a private developer when he allegedly committed the offence.

The over 500 protesters were allegedly demanding a share of the land which belongs to Waren Leonard Wilson.
The court released the accused with a bond of KES 300 000 with one surety of similar amount.
The mentioning of the case was set for March 23, 2015 while hearing begins on July 9, 2015.
