Man in court for assaulting police officers

Nanyuki - A young man has been arraigned in a Nanyuki court for assaulting police officers and causing disturbance.
Adan Abdi appeared before Nanyuki Principal Magistrate, Florence Macharia charged that on March 8, 2015 at Solio Ranch, Nyeri County, he caused disturbance by threatening to take away new born twins.
He is also facing two other counts of assaulting police officers and malicious damage of property.
According to prosecution, the accused went home while drunk at around 1.30am and demanded to take his three-day-old twins away from his wife, Mercy Nyawira.

The accused became so violent that her mother, Tume Ndege, reported the matter to Solio police post where three officers arrived to arrest the accused.
When he saw the police officers, he started throwing glass plates at them leaving them with injuries.
The officers later managed to arrest and escort him to Narumoru police station.
When he appeared in court, he however denied the allegations and was released on a cash bail of KES 50 000. The matter was set for hearing on June 3, 2015.
