A middle aged man badly stabbed his mother and sister Sunday night using a knife following a family squabble at Huruma Estate in Laikipia East District.
Confirming the incident, Laikipia East police commander Joshua Lutukai said that Osman Abdi Ali escaped into the woods after seriously injuring his two close kin.
“His mother Fatuma Abdi incurred a deep cut on the forehead while the sister Hadija Abdi suffered a serious cut on her leg,” Lutukai said.
He added that after the 7.30 PM incident, the two victims were rushed to the Nanyuki District Hospital where they were treated and discharged.
The OCPD however assured that he has established a manhunt for the suspect.
At the same time, Lutukai has also condemned an incident on Friday night when a journalist was attacked and harassed by bandits at his home in Nanyuki town.
He has pledged to heighten security at Thingithu Estate where the local newspaper correspondent was attacked and robbed of his camera, journalism notebook and mobile phone.
Lutukai has called upon residents of Nanyuki to be vigilant and cooperative with his team so that the gangsters terrorizing Laikipia East community will be netted and prosecuted.
