Man flees after defiling 8-year-old daughter

10 September 2015, 13:04 Joseph Njung'eh

Nyeri - Police in Kieni East sub-county, Nyeri, have launched manhunt for a 30-year-old man who allegedly defiled his eight-year-old daughter.

The incident happened at Kabaru village last month when the man’s wife was admitted in hospital.

Area Member of the County Assembly, Duncan Gituanja has said the man had been arrested and locked up at Munyu Police post but was later released under unclear circumstances without trial.

Gituanja said the minor’s mother has since sought refuge at her parents’ home in Murang’a County after her husband threatened her for reporting the matter to the police.

“The man is a pedophile. He is said to have defiled another minor last year and escaped justice,” said Gituanja.

Speaking at Kiganjo police station, the minor’s mother said his husband committed the ordeal during the August school holiday.

“She was washing utensils with his younger brother when his father came and sent the boy to fetch firewood. He took that opportunity to rape her,” narrated the mother of two.

Kiganjo police boss, Mark Masinde said police have been dispatched to arrest him and seek justice for the minor who is in class two.

He further pledged to investigate how the man was released from Munyu police post without facing justice.
