27 November 2012, 11:23
A sixty year old man died on Monday after slipping into a pool of water in a quarry at Mujwa, Imenti Central District.
The Imenti Central OCPD Silvester Githungo confirmed the incident saying the man’s wife, Rose Mburugu, reported to the Police that he had left for Mujwa market but did not return home as usual.
He said the body of Francis Mburugu was found by his wife in the quarry and that the police suspect he was drunk at the time of his drowning.
He said an inquest has been opened into the incident with the aim of finding out the cause of his death.
The OCPD advised members of the public to be cautious especially now that heavy rains are ongoing, saying that they should avoid pools of waters since they increase their risk of drowning.
He said the body of the deceased was removed by Police to the Meru level five hospital awaiting postmortem examinations.
