Nyeri - A 37-year-old man at Rukira village in Othaya who wanted to wipe out his entire family including himself has died after poisoning himself.
Wilson Mbuthia is said to have put poison in the meal that was to be taken by his family on Sunday evening before he ingested the same. His body was discovered in a maize plantation Monday morning.
Luckily, his 35-year-old wife Caroline Wanjugu and their two children, a son and a daughter survived despite consuming the killer supper as they were rushed to hospital by neighbors after suffering serious stomachache.
Area OCPD, Joseph Mwika said the man’s body did not have any physical injuries when it was recovered at around 5am. Next to it was the poison bottle.

He said police have so far handed the bottle and samples of the food to the government analysts for analysis.
Dr. Joseph Gichui said the three patients were in a critical condition on arrival at Othaya hospital as they were sweating, confused, semi-conscious and their heartbeat rates low.
He stated that the symptoms could be linked to organophosphate poisoning, a substance used in eliminating small rodents such as rats and mice.
Mbuthia’s body was taken to Mukurweini District Hospital mortuary.
