Man dies in Tharaka Nithi accident

A middle-aged man died while several other pedestrians sustained injuries after a vehicle lost control and ploughed into a crowd in Chogoria town, Tharaka Nithi County.
The accident vehicle that was carrying 10 passengers was going to Chuka from Meru town when it hit the man who was trying to cross the road on Monday evening.
Eyewitnesses said the vehicle lost control after hitting the pedestrian and ploughed inot others on the roadside.
Area police Chief Kizito Mutoro said the man was pronounced dead by the time he arrived Chogoria Mission Hospital.
Two passengers are still admitted while the rest were treated and discharged at the same hospital.
Mutoro cautioned public service vehicle drivers against over speeding or ignoring traffic rules.
He said PSVs must be subjected to regular checking to ensure safety of passengers.
