Man dies after drinking spree

A middle aged man was found dead Thursday morning at Kipsongo slum in Kitale.
The area chief Bramuel Makokha said that the deceased was last seen on Wednesday evening at a drinking den within the slum. He had bandages on his right arm.
Makokha reiterated that the late tiptoed out of the Kitale district hospital on Thursday where he had been admitted for the last two weeks adding that he was resident of Matisi village and used to visit the slum for local brew.
“We believe that the local brew overcame him as he was weak and extremely sick. I heard that he was ferried by a boda boda operator from the hospital. We have obtained neither the hospital report nor information on how he was able to escape from the hospital,” he said.
Martha Moraa, an eye witness, said the deceased was spotted across the road where he lay crying for help as he had diarrhea all over his clothes. She said that people carried the man to the verandah of a manyatta where he died.
“It is because nobody was willing to take him to the hospital as they assumed that was how he behaved when drunk. I think the cold of night and heavy rain last night exterminated his life,” said Moraa
Kitale OCPD James Mitugo confirmed the incident saying that they had started investigation to ascertain the cause of his death adding that the slum had been used as criminal hideout for a long time and that he could have been killed by some of the criminals.
“We cannot assume things or leave any stone unturned because many people have been killed in this slum. Last week a woman was also murdered here,” said Mitugo
