Man convicted of assaulting sister released on bond

Nairobi - A middle-aged man accused of battering his sister was on Tuesday released on a bond of KES 10 000 by a Nyeri magistrate’s court.
George Nderitu Muchiri was arraigned before Principal Magistrate Susan Ngugi where he denied that on September 29, at Nyaribo area, he assaulted Mary Njeri Wangari thereby occasioning her bodily harm.
It is alleged that the fight ensued following an extended exchange of words between the two over some domestic issues.
The complainant was taken to Mweiga hospital for treatment and later reported the matter to Nyaribo police post.
The accused person told the court that the complainant also assaulted him, and said that he ought to receive medical attention for the swelling he suffered due to the attack.
The court ruled that he be taken to hospital while still in custody if he fails to raise the bond.
His case will proceed on December 29, with a mention on November 25.
