Man cheats death after a hippo attack

Residents of Murang’a South District are decrying laxity by Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) after several incidences of attacks and destruction of their farm products by hippopotamus.
On Tuesday evening, a 40-year-old man from Gatitu village was severely attacked by a hippo at Upper main dam located inside Kakuzi farm.
He had gone fishing in the company of his colleague after their daily farming activities when the incident occured.
No sooner had they started doing what they like most than the animal came from behind and grievously hit the first man on his head.
Seeing that, his colleague he took to his heels screaming.
The commotion attracted Kakuzi farm workers who came to his rescue.
They escorted him to Thika Level five Hospital using the company car where he was attended to but later transferred to Kenyatta National hospital.
For now, he is bedridden at the infirmary with critical injuries on hands and thighs.
