Man charged with stripping an elderly woman

Nyahururu - A man accused of stripping and insulting an elderly woman was Wednesday released on a KES 100 000 bond with a surety of a similar amount by a Nyahururu court.
Benjamin Paul Nduati, who is in his 60’s, pleaded not guilty to the charges before Resident Magistrate Victoria Ochanda.
The charges stated that on March 15, 2015 at Rurii Location in Nyandarua County, he stripped and insulted Lydia Njoki Wanyika calling her a prostitute and a wizard in public.
The court heard that Njoki was on her way to the market in the company of her niece, Sarah Githinji, after attending a church service when they met the accused who started to undress her and at the same time insulting her for no apparent reason.
Njoki ran for her safety and later reported the matter to Rurii police post where she recorded a statement.

After investigations, the accused was arrested and taken to Ol Kalou police station where he was charged with the offences.
The prosecution promised to present four witnesses with four pages of written statement to testify in the case.
The accused could not raise the bond immediately and was remanded at Nyahururu G.K prison.
The case will be heard on May 25 with a mention on April 2, this year.
