Man charged with stripping an elderly woman

26 March 2015, 09:40 Steve Njugunah

Nyahururu - A man accused of stripping and insulting an elderly woman was Wednesday released on a KES 100 000 bond with a surety of a similar amount by a Nyahururu court.

Benjamin Paul Nduati, who is in his 60’s, pleaded not guilty to the charges before Resident Magistrate Victoria Ochanda.

The charges stated that on March 15, 2015 at Rurii Location in Nyandarua County, he stripped and insulted Lydia Njoki Wanyika calling her a prostitute and a wizard in public.

The court heard that Njoki was on her way to the market in the company of her niece, Sarah Githinji, after attending a church service when they met the accused who started to undress her and at the same time insulting her for no apparent reason.

Njoki ran for her safety and later reported the matter to Rurii police post where she recorded a statement.
