Man charged with defrauding Lamu CDF KES 4 M

Nairobi - A man has been charged with defrauding the Lamu East Constituency Development Fund of Sh4 million.
Robert Nyamweya Mauya, 45, allegedly committed the offence between January1, 2012 and December 31, 2012 at Kiunga Secondary School of Kiunga Location in Lamu East District.
Mr Nyamweya, being the fund trustee, is alleged to have taken Sh4,497,260 meant to fund a project both by the Kenya Government and the Lamu East Constituency Development Fund and converted the said amount to his own use.
The accused denied the offence and was released on a Sh2.5 million bond with surety of a similar amount.
The case will be heard on May 12 this year
