Man charged for stealing maize

31 January 2013, 12:57Kelvin Mureithi

A man was on Wednesday charged with breaking into a neighbour’s store and stealing a sack of maize worth KES 2 000 in Meru.

Appearing before senior principal magistrate D.O Onyango, the accused is alleged to have committed the crime on 12/12/12.

The complainant, Stanley Kinoti claimed that Dennis Mutethia had not just broken the store once, revealing how he had forgiven him in a similar incident earlier.

However, the accused who hails from Ntima area in Meru county denied the charges before the court claiming that those were false allegations.

He accepted the first incident where he was allegedly forgiven by the complainant.

The court found him guilty with the offense, though he cried foul that he had 3 children and a wife to take care of.
