Man charged for presenting fake certificate during recruitment

16 July 2014, 12:05 Joseph Njung’eh

Nyeri - A 22-year-old man who was arrested by police in Nyeri for presenting a forged Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education(KCSE) certificate during police recruitment exercise has been arraigned in court.

Charles Mwaniki Ndirangu was arrested on Monday at Ruring’u stadium where he had turned up for the recruitment of the Kenya Police Service.

His aspirations of being a police officer hit snag when detectives discovered that the KCSE certificate he produced was not genuine.

According to the charge sheet, Ndirangu was accused of forging Lawrence Karimi’s KCSE certificate with the intention of using it to get a job in the police force.

He however denied the charges when he appeared before Nyeri Principal Magistrate Phillip Mutua.

He was released on a KES 300,000 bond with a surety of the same amount while the case was set continue on August 13, this year.
