Man caught disfiguring bill board, naked

15 February 2013, 17:56

A TNA gubernatorial seat aspirant in Nyeri county is accusing one of his rivals for damaging and disfiguring his posters and bill boards in the area.

Wahome Gakuru said he has reported to the IEBC regional offices in Nyeri but no step has ever been taken and therefore he was demanding action from the Nyeri offices.

He made the remarks on Thursday after a 21-year old man was caught damaging his bill board in Karatina town on Wednesday night.

Reportedly, the man was caught naked by members of the public on top of the ten-meter high bill board as he was trying to destroy it.

The Business Administration Degree holder said the bill board advertisement cost him KES 1Million and the damages are making him accumulate huge losses in the campaigns.

The suspect was taken to Karatina police station awaiting a court trial.

A knife, pair of pliers and a ladder were recovered from the scene and are confiscated at station as exhibit.

Gakuru further stated that his life is in danger asking, “If they can damage my bill boards worth millions, what about my life?”

He however called for pure politics devoid of such ‘thuggery’ and malpractice adding that voters will elect their preferred candidate to lead the county.
