Bungoma - Police in Bungoma are holding a middle-aged man who was arrested in Mupeli estate in the outskirts of Bungoma town Thursday evening after he was allegedly caught having sex with a dog in his house.
The owner of the female dog the man is said to have had carnal knowledge of is the suspect’s next door neighbour in the estate. A child saw him locking himself up in his house with the animal, and alerted his mother who raised the alarm.
The pet owner, who was not at home during the time of the incident, told journalists that his neighbour had befriended his dog.

“He used to entice the animal by giving it mandazi and even bread at times and my dog was really friendly to him. I did not know that there was more than meets the eye in their ‘relationship’. I never suspected a thing and imagined he only loved pets like any other person,” said the shocked man.
Bungoma South OCPD, Limbitu Kirunya confirmed the incident and said they intend to charge the man for two offences once the investigations are completed by his police officers.
“We have already taken the man to hospital for examinations. Veterinary offices also examined the dog to confirm if there was any unlawful act committed. All indications so far show that the act was committed,” said the police boss.

“We shall charge the suspect with two accounts; of bestiality and creating public disturbance,” said Kirunya.
The incident caused a stir in the estate that is inhabited by many people, with womenfolk wondering how a man could have sexual relationship with a dog in an area full of women.
“How on earth can a man find a dog so attractive and yet there are many unmarried and unattached women like me out here?” wondered a lady who identified herself as Naliaka.
