The body of a 35-year-oldman was Sunday night retrieved from a burnt house in Muhoroni in what is suspected to be a suicide case.
George Oreche Okulo who hails from Tonde Bao village is said to have taken his life after developing a mental complication.
Area Assistant Chief Nelson Omer said the first time the late Okulo attempted to commit suicide was on May 26, 2013 when he unsuccessfully tried to behead his child using an axe.
Omer said the wife to the deceased raised an alarm thus attracting neighbors who intervened and prevented Okulo from committing the crime.
He narrated how the late Okulo later drunk an acid which seriously burnt his internal body organs including the intestines and deformed his mouth in the hope of ending his life.
However, the Assistant Chief said that this time round Okulo locked himself in the house and set it ablaze. Efforts by neighbors to break the door and save him proved futile.
Chief Omer said the body has since been taken to Rachar Medical Center in Muhoroni awaiting postmortem.
The administrator confirmed that the incident was reported to Muhoroni Police Post and investigations have already been launched to establish circumstances surrounding the death.
