Kisumu - A man who was allegedly caught in bed with another man’s wife was brutally killed and his head smashed to smithereens at Ayweyo in Kisumu County.
The victim, whose identity is yet to be established, is claimed to have gone to the woman’s house but their illicit affair turned tragic when the man of the house unexpectedly stormed the house and flushed them out.
Sources close to the family who spoke on condition of anonymity claimed that the husband could have gotten wind of the ‘intruder’ who usually comes to have a good time in his matrimonial bed and so set a trap.
The man allegedly lied to the wife that he was going on a long safari only to resurface at around 9.30 pm when he cornered the man who was attacked by irate members of the public.
Sources including local community policing group confided that the husband then ran over the victim using his car, smashing the head to smithereens in what was said to be a shocking and bizarre act on the dead.
However, Nyando OCPD, Elias Gitonga said they received a report at 10pm that somebody had been run over by a hit and run motorist but they highly doubted the report which they said was intended to be a cover up.
Gitonga said the victim’s head was completely smashed with blood and content of the brain splattered all over the scene.
He appealed to members of the public with important leads to come forward to help police with investigations.
“Unless the victim was drunk, it is unlikely for one to wander along the road and be knocked down without anyone having seen what transpired and be brave enough to state the same,” he argued.
The OCPD appealed to anyone who could have lost a loved one to help identify the victim whose body was taken to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting post mortem.
