Missing man found beheaded

Residents of Nyeri town are living in fear after a 65 year old man was found murdered on Monday evening in his room at Kimathi Estate in the outskirts of the town.  

According to police reports, friends and relatives of John Gitonga had been searching for him since he went missing for some days. 

On Monday, they decided to go to his house only to find him laying in a pool of blood half - beheaded.  

Area police boss Kirunya Limbitu confirmed the incident saying probe over the murder has commenced and the assailants will be brought to book.

Kirunya said the deceased had injuries on his body, suspected to have been assault with a blunt object and some of his electronics were stolen.  

The body was taken to Nyeri provincial General Hospital.
