Shock and disbelief engulfed the entire village of Miruriri in Imenti South district when a middle aged man beat his wife to death following a domestic disagreement that ensued after he arrived home from a drinking spree.
Area OCPD John Cheruiyot said the suspect Linus Kinoti was spotted in a drinking den earlier in the day with his deceased wife Betty Karambu before they both left for home.
“After reaching home, the two disagreed on some undisclosed issues forcing the man to clobber the wife to death,” said the OCPD.
He said the deceased had blood stains on her clothes, suffered several bruises on her body and blood was also oozing from the suspect’s mouth noting the motive of the murder is yet to be established.
He said the suspect went to his father the following morning and informed him he wanted to commit suicide because he had already killed his wife, a mother of one child.
“Immediately after talking to his father, the suspect disappeared and is still at large,” said the OCPD.
He said the father reported the incident to police after getting the information on the murder, and later removed the body of the deceased to Meru Level Five Hospital mortuary for postmortem analysis.
He said police have already launched a man hunt for the suspect and urged anybody with information regarding his whereabouts to forward it to the police to enable them take the appropriate action.
He called on the residents to resolve their problems amicably by consulting with elders and experts instead of resorting to violence.
