Nairobi - A man was arrested Tuesday evening for taking photographs of a Nairobi mall, with members of the public suspecting him of being a terrorist.
The man was arrested at Nairobi's Galleria mall for taking photographs at night, with members of the public hell bent on lynching him before policemen intervened.
Msingi Sasis was arrested by police and jailed at the Langata Police Station for investigation.
Langata OCPD Elijah Mwangi confirmed that his officers had arrested the man and were investigating reasons for taking the photographs.
" I have heard that we have a man at the station. However, I am off duty and cannot explain the exact details of his arrest and subsequent detention " he said.
Kenya is currently under severe pressure to protect key installations in the wake of terror attacks that have hit the country in recent times.
In the wake of the Westgate Mall terror attack in 2013 and the recent Garissa University terror attack, the country has been forced into a state of emergency over the attacks.
