A flower farm worker has been arrested in Naivasha for defaulting to take TB medication.
The middle-aged man who has suffered from the disease for the last two years was arrested by officers from the public health and the police.
He was accused of failing to take medication and infecting three members of his family with the disease.
According to the Naivasha district public health officer Samuel King’ori, the suspect is being held in Naivasha police station.
King’ori added that the middle aged man would be arraigned in court for charges of failing to take the TB drugs as stipulated by the law.
“The suspect was arrested after failing to take his medications despite getting several warnings,” explained the senior officer.
He added that the three relatives who were infected with the disease were getting treatment and were responding positively to medication.
“It’s illegal to default from taking TB medication as it’s given free of charge in government health facilities,” he said.
He also responded on questions regarding the just ended measles campaign in the area, King’ori said that they had surpassed their 50 000 target despite facing various challenges like vehicles and opposition from some sect members.
