Nyeri - A man who allegedly robbed and assaulted his employer in Nyeri town was Friday arraigned in a Nyeri court.
Ephantus Nyaga was allegedly in a gang of eight men who robbed Peter Mugambi, a doctor at Nyeri Provincial General Hospital.
The gang was armed with crude weapons including pangas and hammers, the court heard.
In his evidence, police constable Ferdinand Kazungu told the court that he was informed by Deputy OCS George Madolio on April 29,2013 that the doctor had been attacked and injured by suspected thugs at his home in Kangemi area on the fringes of Nyeri town.
He informed the court that he took his fellow police officers and proceeded to the doctor’s home and later took him to hospital.
The complainant, Nyaga, told the court that the suspects robbed him KES 34 000 and a mobile phone.
However, while appearing before resident magistrate Christine Wekesa, the accused maintained that he did not commit the alleged offence.
The case was set to proceed on July 21, 2014.
