Man Murders his Brother’s Wife

20 February 2012, 10:34 Anthony Muriuki Muthuri

A mother of two was murdered on Saturday night by his brother-in-law in Kanjai village, Kirimantune Location of Meru County on claims that she was a sorcerer.

Confirming the incident, Imenti North District OCPD James Kithuka said the woman identified as Margaret Kagendo, 22, was murdered by her brother-in-law after accusing her to be a sorcerer. Kithuka said the assailant James Muthuri, 35, pulled and frog matched the deceased from her house to his cubicle where he murdered her using a blunt object.

The police boss said the husband to the diseased was dead drunk when the wife was picked from their house by his brother who murdered her. Kithuka confirmed that the assailant is a known jailbird and had only enjoyed freedom for 1 year after serving a 7 years jail term.

He said police moved in swiftly to arrest the culprit before he could escape and he is now locked up in Meru police cells waiting to be arraigned in court on Monday charged with murder. The body of the deceased is lying at Meru Level Five Hospital awaiting postmortem to ascertain whether the deceased was raped before being murdered, said Kithuka.
