Man, 45, held, for raping 12 year old girl.

09 October 2013, 21:08 Dareel Eric

Luanda - A 45 year old man is being held at the Luanda police station in Vihiga County after allegedly raping a 12 year old girl, who is a grade five pupil in a local school, causing bodily harm to her.

Jack Obunji from Ekwanda village is suspected to have raped the girl early in August and disappeared when he realised that the police were hunting him down.

"The man disappeared but then we dispatched our security teams to track him down of what we have successfully done,” said Luanda OCS Benjoliff Munuve.

Munuve said that the man will be arraigned in court today after having evaded arrest earlier.

The girl’s mother Judith Indesia said that her daughter was raped while she was on her way to Ekwanda shopping centre.

“The man enticed her with some chapatti to his house, where he did the beastly act to her,” the mother said.

She confirmed that the girl is in a stable condition and is recuperating at the hospital where she is being attended to.

“She is doing good at the Emuhaya sub-county hospital, and I am only praying for justice to be done to the person who did the beastly act to her,” she said.
