Man, 26, out on KES 200 000 bond for defilement

Nyahururu - A 26-year-old man was Thursday released by a Nyahururu court on a KES 200 000 bond and a surety of similar amount for defiling a minor.
David Lenaina Wambugu pleaded not guilty to the charges when he appeared before resident magistrate Willy Cheruiyot.
The court heard that he defiled a 12-year-old girl on February 20 at Subukia shopping Centre in Nakuru County.
He was faced with an alternative charge of committing an indecent act with a child.

The prosecution told the court that Wambugu lured the minor into his house when the minor parent’s, a farmer, was away.
The court further heard that on learning that the girl’s parent had reported the matter at Subukia police station, the accused fled and went into hiding.
He was later arrested at Kabaazi trading Centre after members of the public tipped police officers that he had been spotted at the Centre. He was arrested and taken to Subukia police station where he was charged with the offence.
The case will heard on November 11 with a mention on September 3.
