Nyeri - The death of prominent hardline Muslim preacher, Abubakar Shariff Ahmed alias Makaburi was a tragic reminder of how the society has sunk into lawlessness, former MP and lawyer Gitobu Imanyara has said.
Gitombu, in a post on social media, stated that the death of the preacher was extra-judicial.
“The extra-judicial killing of the radical Muslim preacher Makaburi is a tragic reminder of how far we have sunk to lawlessness,” Imanyara posted.
Makaburi was shot dead on Tuesday night in Mombasa alongside a friend who had accompanied him from Shanzu Law Courts.
His young followers and supporters pointed an accusing finger to the authorities.
The radical preacher came into limelight recently due to his controversial standing regarding terrorism in Kenya, apparently affirming his support for Al Shabaab terror attacks.
Makaburi’s death brought to four the number of radical Muslim preachers who have been killed under controversial circumstances.
