Migori - Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader, Omingo Magara has promised to use his ‘political prowess’ to ensure his party retains the Migori gubernatorial seat in the event that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) calls for a by-election.
Magara expressed optimism that voters who elected Zacharia Okoth Obado in the last general elections will still practice their constitutional rights in a free and fair manner irrespective of the political party or alliances the incumbent vied on.
“The same people who voted him last year will still vote him if it means we go for a by-election,” Magara said.
In an interview, Magara urged residents to be calm and wait for Supreme Court’s ruling saying his party will stand by its candidate to the end.
“As Peoples Democratic Party leader, I call for calmness as we wait for the Supreme Court’s verdict. We shall stand by our candidate till the end,” Magara said.
Omingo said in case of a by-election, PDP would still go for it alone adding that the party bagged the Migori gubernatorial seat independently and not under CORD coalition.
