Madrassa to be in education system

Muslim leaders in Bungoma have welcomed a move by the Ministry of Education to incorporate Madrassa in formal education system.
Speaking to KNA at Jamia mosque in Bungoma, the Principal Intisar Muslim Madrassa Bungoma Ramadhan Omar said they appreciate the step taken by the government as it shows the government is dedicated in bringing up spiritually upright students and members of the society.
He said when the syllabus is synchronized for all Madrassa, it will enhance good performance and encourage competition, will be more affordable as the government will reduce the burden of paying the teachers by taking it up.
He said poor payment for Madrassa teachers has led to their exodus to well paying countries, such as Sudan, Saudi Arabia among others.
Omar also urged the government to develop Muslim schools from nursery school to university for promotion of Muslim faith and enhance spiritual nourishment.
Omar further called for intervention of the government to help control school going days in order to give them time for spiritual nourishment citing that children go to school throughout the week.
