Macharia launches Health sector framework

Nairobi - Health Cabinet Secretary, James Macharia launched a health guiding booklet and Website framework to enhance the set up of national Promotive Health Unit for proper communication on disease challenge.
Macharia said that launched programme will enable people to control their health status and prevent both communicable and non-communicable diseases.
“Promotive Health Unit will comprehensively roll out health promotion, health education and social marketing to ensure minimal health dangers,” said Macharia.
He stated that health promotion has to be well addressed since it is the cornerstone of primary health care in both effective and cost effective to reducing disease burdens and mitigation socio- economic impacts.
He added that maternal and child mortality accounts for 50 per cent of the challenges facing the ministry noting that 100,000 children die in Kenya annually out of the possible 1.5 million annual births.
Macharia reiterated that his ministry establish structures to make sure health promoters are recognized in terms of result-based solution as the ministry seeks to have a major milestone in health communication and marketing.
The CS called on both public and private sector stakeholders to join hands with the government to ensure that the public are well versed with the necessary knowledge on their health.
