Marital dispute hounds Machakos Governor Mutua

Nairobi - Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua and his wife are embroiled in a civil dispute that threatens to end badly for all parties.
The two are fighting for the custody of their three children, who according to Mutua have been taken away and hidden by his estranged wife Josephine Thitu in Australia.
According to documents deposited in court by the Governor, he is seeking to have the whereabouts of his kids known and also wants custody of them.
He also wants his wife's relatives to keep off his property until the case is concluded.
Mutua claims that his wife took the kids to Australia without his consent while Thitu says that Mutua abandoned them in 2012 and thus has no rights to a complaint.
Mutua wants his properties in Westlands, Mavoko and Machakos rid of miss Thitu's relatives, staff and activists until the case is heard and determined.
The Governor and his wife have been embroiled in a public spat over their faded relationship for a while now, with Mutua keen to move her out of his life.
His kids though, who go to school at Nairobi's St Mary's and Montessori schools respectively, have been caught up in the middle of the battle.
Mutua says that he has never shied away from taking care of his kids and that any messages purporting so are false and aimed at soiling his name.
The hearing will resume Monday December 1, 2014.
