Nairobi - MPs have threatened to impeach Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery if he does not produce the killers of MP George Muchai in 72 hours.
Muchai was murdered in cold blood Saturday morning along Nairobi's Kenyatta Avenue by an unknown gunman as he attempted to buy a newspaper.
Three others, two of them his body guards as well as driver were also gunned down in the incident.
According to the chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Security Asman Kamama, the death was a shocking and horrific incident which must be probed with immediacy.
He said that it was Nkaissery's job to ensure the security of Kenyans and that unless he has a proper lead in 72 hours, drastic measures will have to be taken.
" We need a name and within 72 hours or else we will take action," Kamama shouted Monday afternoon, flanked by a number of MPs.
" Such an incident must not go unpunished and Kenyans need to see seriousness in the investigations. It is a must we see action, " he added.
Nkaissery has already said that investigations over the incident are in top gear and that security forces are following vital leads at the moment.
It is not yet clear what the motive for Muchai's murder is, though it is understood that the assasin made away with a briefcase the MP was carrying.
