MPs promise Uhuru Kajiado seat after Nkaissery 'gift'

03 December 2014, 19:02 William Korir

Nairobi - MPs from Kajiado have promised president Uhuru Kenyatta the seat set to be vacated by recently appointed Interior CS Joseph Nkaissery if there is to be a by election.

The MPs, speaking Wednesday in a press conference, have promised the president that the Kajiado Central seat which is currently under the opposition Orange Democratic Movement ODM party, which Nkaissery belongs to, will transfer to his National Alliance TNA party come the by elections.

This is so as to say thank you to the president for gifting the region such an important post.

Led by Kajiado East Mp Peris Tobiko, they claimed that the vacant seat will be won by TNA in the coming election.

" We want to promise the president that this seat will come to TNA. We want to say thank you to him for helping the people of this region pick up such an important post in the current government, she said.

She insisted that the vacant seat would change hands, despite it being obvious that there will be competition from ODM.

" We will win it. We are confident, she said.

His Kajiado North counterpart Moses Ole Sakuda also assured the president that the seat would land at TNA's doorstep.

" This seat I would like to assure the president will go to TNA. That is a word we will strive to keep to the party, he said.

Nkaissery's potential move to the cabinet has yet to be approved and he too is yet to publicly state whether he will quit ODM.
