MP wants Kalenjin elders to curse Governor Ruto

13 May 2015, 21:43

Nakuru - A member of parliament from Rift Valley wants the Kalenjin council of elders to spell a curse on Bomet Governor, Isaac Ruto for defying and fighting deputy President, William Ruto.

Kuresoi North Member of Parliament, Moses Cheboi said that only a curse from the community’s elders will teach the Governor a lesson.

Speaking Wednesday in Kuresoi town, Cheboi told the council of elders to summon Ruto and warn him against fighting the deputy President in his own backyard.

“We have a council of elders as Kalenjins and I want them to help us in dealing with Governor Ruto. They should summon him and talk to him. If he refuses, they should go ahead and curse him because that is the only way he will learn to respect our deputy president,” said Cheboi.

He added: “If the President has talked to him and he cannot hear, then the only people who can tame him are the elders. We are ready to lose one person who is out to divide the community for his own selfish interests.”

Cheboi said that members of parliament from Rift Valley will soon launch a campaign across the entire region to warn people against associating with the Bomet Governor whom he termed as the enemy of the Kalenjin community.
