Nyeri - Othaya MP, Mary Wambui has asked East Africa Breweries Limited (EABL) to stop distributing second generation brews in her constituency.
Wambui said EABL is the major distributor of alcoholic beverages packed in plastic bottles in the area.
“We want them to supply us with healthy beer especially the one with dietary supplements and not killer brews which are very cheap,” she said.
Speaking in her constituency at Chinga Community Hall, the MP further asked the County Government of Nyeri to regulate licensing of bars.

She reasoned that youths had become drunkards because of easy accessibility of brews.
Wambui threatened to mobilize public and demonstrate against opening of bars in the agricultural endowed region.
“We have 219 bars in Othaya constituency and we want them reduced to 50. The County government must involve residents before licensing a bar to operate in any area,” she said.
The MP recently led her constituents in burning down a consignment of brews worth KES 3.4 Million at Othaya stadium.
