Govt urged to release MRC members

Matuga Member of Parliament Hassan Mwanyoa has asked the government to give orders for arrested members of MRC to be released in order for them to participate in development activities.
Mwanyoa also urged the government to stop harassing members of the outlawed group so that those hiding could join their families in contributing to the country's development.
Addressing a leaders' meeting which was attended by deputy president William Ruto at Matuga School of government over the weekend, Mwanyoa said the issue of outlawed groups in the area has already been dealt with.
He noted that following a meeting they had with leaders of the group, the MRC agreed to join the government.
“We have held meetings with all members here and the issue of MRC and Kayabombo is no longer there so we want our people to be given chance to participate in development. You only need to give orders that they should not be intimidated,” he said.
He said those arrested following the MRC uprising should also be released and allowed to contribute towards the development of the country.
Mwanyoa said unity should be given first priority by the country because development cannot take place without unity.
