MP to offer free medical surgeries
10 March 2015, 09:28
Kitale - Residents of Trans-Nzoia County will soon benefit from free medical surgeries carried out by a Member of Parliament from the region, who is a medical surgeon by profession.
Endebess MP, Dr Robert Pukose, who was a practising general surgeon before joining the national assembly, said he will be preforming free surgeries on patients from his constituency and those from the larger Trans-Nzoia County from next Sunday.
Speaking to News24 Monday, Pukose said he had been prompted to offer the free medical services following the large number of constituents who flock his office seeking assistance to offset medical bills.
"I have been approached by many people in Endebess who want help to pay medical bills. I have decided to conduct the surgeries myself each Sunday," said Pukose.

The lawmaker said that he has already notified his residents that he will not have any appointments with them on Sundays.
He added that he has already made arrangements to offer the free medical service at Endebess sub- County Hospital and Kitale District Hospital, which is the major medical facility in the region.
"There are less than 200 medical surgeons practising in Kenya. As a trained medical surgeon, I hope my free services will assist poor members of the public," said the legislator.
Prior to joining parliament, Pukose was the Kabarnet District Hospital Medical Superintendent and consultant general surgeon.
The Endebess MP is currently the Vice-Chair of National Assembly Departmental Committee of Health.
