MP says Western politicians in support of Uhuru

Nyeri - Members of Parliament and Senators from Western Kenya are supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta and his government, MP Charles Gimose said on Saturday.
The Hamisi constituency MP denied reports that MPs from the area were in opposition.
He lashed out at Coalition for Reforms and Democracy's calls for a referendum, stating that CORD should not count Western support in its quest.
“We are not supporting unnecessary sideshows of a dialogue but we can support structured dialogues beneficial to the people,” said Gimose.
The MP made the remarks in Nyeri while addressing mourners during the funeral service of Mukurweini MP Kabando wa Kabando’s mother.
The event was attended by more than 30 MPs and Senators.
Kiharu MP, Irungu Kang’ata took the podium to defend his motion of compelling CORD to fund the referendum.
He asked his fellow parliamentarians to support the motion arguing that the referendum funds could be directed to development projects.
