Nyeri - Ndia MP, Stephen Ngare has initiated an education trust fund which will take care of the needy and bright students from his constituency.
Ngare while said the KES10 million fund will begin by identifying 35 students starting next year.
He said the money which was raised by the deputy president in a fund drives early this year is still reserved and under the management of a trustee who will manage the same.
The legislator said the students identified will be sponsored from Form One to completion of their Form Four.
He said parents or guardians of the needy students will be required to fill the forms after they are identified by the chiefs and their assistants to make sure only genuine cases benefit.
Ngare at the same time called on women groups from Ndia to come up with proposals and exhaust the KES 1 million from the Uwezo fund which is still in reserve.
He said he was happy that some groups have started paying back the loan even before the expiry of the six months grace period.
Ngare said plans are complete for a walk set for October this year, aimed at raising over KES10 million for women groups in his constituency.
"The KES10 million to be raised in the walk from Kagio to Baricho will be a boost to the KES 15 million the groups have already received from the Uwezo fund,” Ngare said.
