MP elect's chief campaigner murdered

Maragua constituency MP elect Peter Kamande is mourning thr death of his chief campaigner who was murdered at wee hours of Monday morning.
Maina Kamonye was one of the main people who led to Kamande’s election in the constituency, enabling him bag huge votes compared to his competitor the immediate former MP Elius Mbau.
According to police reports Maina was attacked at his Makuyu home with crude weapons by unknown assailants.
He did not raise any alarm and reportedly, the assailants fled on foot.
Neighbours said they heard some distraught calls from the homestead and on arrival found the deceased lying down and bleeding profusely.
He was rushed to Thika level five Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
They reported the matter to Makuyu police station and also recorded statements.
The Officer Commanding Makuyu police station said investigations over the murder have being launched and the attackers will be apprehended.
Speaking at the home of the deceased, the MP elect condemned the incident and asked area police boss to beef up security in the region.
Of late, insecurity cases have up surged in the entire Murang’a County forcing business men to shy off the region.
Murder and kidnapping cases are the most rampant incidences.
