Kandara - MP, Alice Wahome has donated about ten motorcycles to chiefs in her constituency in order to enhance their movement in fighting production of illicit brews and boost security operations.
The facilitation was made through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) kitty.
The MP said the motorcycles will ease the administrators from walking long distances while executing their duties.
She explained that the chiefs have been trained how to ride the high powered motorbikes and how to handle them for better management.
She said CDF management procured the motor cycles after Kenya National Police Service gave an additional two vehicles to Kandara Sub-County.
“Am duty bound to support the security agents in all ways to fight all sorts of crime including illicit brews. The brews have caused disunity in many families and we must fight the menace,” said Wahome.
She added that consumption of illicit brews among young people has lowered economic growth of the area as many youth spent most of their time at drinking dens.
Wahome noted that the motorbikes will help chiefs respond to emergency cases adding that she will closely be monitoring the usage of the bikes to avert any abuse.
